A story from the world of Woofington
Somewhere beyond the last ordinary cloud—where the flowers glow, the ponds remember songs, and butterflies occasionally forget which way is up—there is a place called Woofington.
Woofington is a bright and curious little world made especially for cats, dogs, and adventures that would never behave properly anywhere else.
Its meadows are soft enough for spectacular tumbles. Its trees grow treats when they are in a generous mood. Its clouds sometimes wander down for belly rubs. And no two mornings begin quite the same way.
Every animal in Woofington carries a Heartlight: a warm glow that shines brightest whenever they are being brave, kind, curious, playful, or wonderfully themselves.
Sometimes that happiness becomes far too big to sit still. It races through their paws, bounces into their tails, and makes their whole bodies wiggle.
That is why they are called the Wiggle Woofs.
Near the Great Life Tree lives the Caretaker, Woofington’s gentle guide and patient keeper of peculiar things. He knows which paths lead home, which flowers tell jokes, and why the moon occasionally turns up in the wrong part of the sky.
But even the Caretaker cannot predict everything that happens in Woofington.
And on this particular morning, seven small friends were about to prove it.
Golden light spilled gently across rolling meadows of soft cloud-grass. Wildflowers shimmered in every color imaginable — pinks and golds and sky-blues that seemed to glow from within. Butterflies drifted lazily through the air, their wings sparkling faintly like tiny pieces of sunrise.
The butterflies loved a good game of chase. Whenever someone came close, they giggled in their fluttering way and zipped off to invent an even trickier path.
Near a ring of glowing flowers stood Bumbles, carefully nudging a small blossom upright.
“I think this one wanted a little encouragement,” she said softly.
A short distance away sat Zeus, watching the breeze ripple through tall, silky grasses.
They always stand taller after the wind,” he murmured thoughtfully. Suddenly—
A streak of blue-grey shot through a patch of dancing butterflies.
“I’ll go first!” declared Penny, leaping bravely at something that shimmered in the air.
From the edge of a winding cloud-path came an excited voice.
“Look at that sparkle!” shouted Bella, already bounding toward it.
“Adventure!”
On top of a gently floating drift of petals… Midnight was asleep. No one had seen her climb there. Beside her sat Tigger, tail curled neatly around his paws.
“I think she’s dreaming about catching stars,” he whispered.
And then— like a swirl of mottled sunlight— Reese burst into the meadow.
“I almost have it!” she yowled, already spinning in tight circles as she chased her tail.
Above them, The Caretaker watched with quiet warmth. The day had begun.
And somewhere between butterflies and laughter… Reese was about to find herself.
Reese darted through the tall, silky cloud-grass, butterflies scattering in sparkling swirls around her.
“I almost have it!” she yowled again, twisting in tighter and tighter circles as she snapped playfully at her own tail.
Round and round she went. Faster. Faster. Her paws blurred. Her ears flopped.
“YOWWW!” she cried dramatically as she tumbled sideways into a soft patch of glowing clover.
There was a moment of stillness.
And then— Bumbles giggled first, a warm bubbling sound. Zeus’ shoulders shook with quiet laughter. Penny burst into tiny, high-pitched giggles. Bella bark-laughed loudly. Tigger’s whiskers twitched with delight. Even Midnight stirred from her floating petal bed long enough to snort-sleep-laugh before curling back into a cozier ball.
Reese lifted her head. For one split second… She blinked. And then— she started laughing too.
“I almost had it!” she declared proudly, eyes sparkling.
She leapt up and spun once more. And this time— she caught it. Her own tail. She froze triumphantly, jaws gently wrapped around the fluffy tip.
Bella gasped dramatically. “I can catch mine faster than that!”
Without another word, Bella began spinning in determined little circles, her ears flying outward like tiny flags.
Penny immediately jumped in. “Oh please — watch this!”
Zeus stood slowly, a small smile forming. Midnight rolled sideways and attempted a lazy half-spin before collapsing in sleepy surrender.
Tigger blinked thoughtfully. “…I suppose I should try.”
Within moments, the meadow was alive with spinning puppies and kittens. Golden grass swayed. Butterflies darted. Cloud-hills shimmered in the distance. They spun and stumbled and laughed and tumbled into one another — a heap of fur and joy.
Above them, The Caretaker watched from the highest cloud ridge. His eyes glowed softly. He did not speak. He did not interfere. He simply smiled. Because this— this uncontrollable burst of laughter, this joyful wobble of paws, this ridiculous determination to catch what had always been part of them— was exactly what Woofington was meant to hold.
Seven small bodies wagged and wiggled and spun so hard the very meadow seemed to shimmer. And for a moment— it felt as though the whole world was laughing with them.
At last, the spinning slowed.
Bella flopped dramatically into the grass. Penny tipped sideways mid-turn and declared it a victory anyway. Zeus came to a gentle stop, blinking calmly as if he had always meant to spin exactly that much. Midnight had not moved from her petal drift and was now snoring softly. Tigger’s tail remained loosely wrapped around himself, swaying in quiet contentment. Reese rolled onto her back, paws in the air, laughing at the sky. Bumbles lay beside her, warm and steady.
The butterflies returned to their gentle drifting. The golden hills glowed. The cloud-islands shimmered softly in the distance.
And high above, The Caretaker watched with a peaceful smile.
And so seven friends spent their morning exactly as a Woofington morning ought to be spent—in laughter, play, and one completely unnecessary tail-chasing competition.
Reese rolled onto her back, paws in the air, still laughing at the sky. Bumbles settled warmly beside her. Bella insisted that she had won. Penny insisted that she had won more bravely. Zeus decided that everyone had demonstrated excellent spinning technique.
Tigger remained politely uncertain about the entire activity.
Midnight slept through the official results.
Above the meadow, the Caretaker smiled.
The butterflies returned. The flowers shimmered. Seven tails began wagging again.
First one.
Then another.
And before long, every puppy and kitten was wiggling so happily that the meadow itself appeared to wiggle with them.
For that is the way of Woofington:
Curiosity grows.
Laughter spreads.
And whenever joy becomes too big to sit still—
the Wiggle Woofs wiggle.
